Troubleshooting tips for viewing Quicktime movies from
BGSU:
Windows:
1. Do you have the free application Quicktime
version 7 or greater installed, the pro version is NOT needed?
If you have a Quicktime time icon in your Start Menu/Settings/Control Panels
area (see
screenshot) and the version is 7 or higher,
then you have the correct version of quicktime installed. You can use the Update
Check drop down to see if there are updates
available as well (see
screenshot).
If you don't have quicktime, you can click the link above or
here to download and install it.
2. In the Quicktime Control Panel, is your Connection Speed set correctly?
Choose the correct speed for your internet connection (see
screenshot)...
If you do not know what your connection speed is, you can use http://bandwidthplace.com/speedtest/
to test the speed
of your connection.
3. In the Quicktime Control Panel, is the Streaming Transport set to
Automatic? (see
screenshot).
If the automatic setting doesn't work, try changing it to HTTP port 80.
4. Do you have a firewall or router?
It is possible that your firewall may block the stream or that your router may
not pass the stream correctly.
Try temporarily disabling the firewall to see if the stream works or have your
network administrator look into it.
Your network administrator may have to check into the router setup as well if
it is determined to be the cause.
